Quite simply the most intimate jazz venue ever! The staff is delightful as are the venue, the clientele and the incredible acts they book. I've had the pleasure to visit here for a number of shows over the years and have never been disappointed, this past weekend's performance by the iconic Bob Dorough, being particularly stellar. They could maybe use a little help on their food, just a step above bar food, but the overall experience far outweighs my occasional culinary snobbery,
With a Vermont coziness of the old inn, white Christmas lights sparkle the windows and mellow jazz floats over the crowd tapping to the beat of the bass player.
I absolutely love the area. The inn is very quaint, good service, the food is delicious, and the band playing was phenomenal. It's been so long since I've heard live jazz, Deer Head Inn is a delight. We'll be going back, perhaps getting a room so we can enjoy the area during the day.
This place is the oldest single location jazz club in the United States. They are open Thursday to Sunday with some exceptions. They offer a free open jam night Thursdays. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings is when the best jazz is offered. A full bar is available with delicious cocktails and a nice wine selection. The food is delicious and ranges from sandwiches to entrees.
We love it here. Always great food and wonderful live Jazz. Have never had a bad experience. It is wonderful & much easier to get to than New York City
